Perfume - by Gordy de Necochea

I wrote this song while in Cairo. I was amazed at the sea of people, the myriad mazes, marvels - old and new. I was always greatly impressed by the perfume vendors and their ability to concoct any scent known to man. Smell is such a powerful sense. It has the ability to instantly conjur up a strong memory, or transport you to another time and place. To this day, the smell of yerba buena always reminds me of the time when I was seven years old, and my brother Michael and I would run through our neighbor, Mrs. Salie's, garden just to smell the tea leaves growing in the shade.

Video from Damascus, Syria

Here I am singing on a roof in Damascus, Syria. It looks a little like Tune Town within the walls of the Christian Quarter. The song is called Fairouz and Kolthum - an ode to the most important singers of the Middle East. All people, young or old, absolutely revere Fairouz and Kolthum.

Sway - new song idea

Gordy40th_1This is a song idea about the unattainable.  In theory, it is possible, however remote, that I could go out on a date with Angelina Jolie or Selma Hayak;  but, Venus de Milo...  impossible.
